Writers Strike

I think this has been good for Canadian TV. I have stated to watch a couple of new TV shows and I am really enjoying them. I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t have given them a shot if all the big American shows were still on the air.  Now that I am “into”these shows I’ll continue to record them on t

I’ve been a big fan of “The Border“. This is a great show and in my humble opinion it does not have any of the cheese factor that I have come to expect from Canadian TV. I can tell you one thing for sure……. historically one would assume that this would be a “period piece” about the frontier border patrol on the Prairies….. if this were the case there is about a 100% chance that I wouldn’t be watching it.

I’ve also been watching “jPod“. I think this is a decent show and will continue to watch it.

I think it really makes a difference that these shows are shot in HD. I’m not usually a Audio/Visual guy…. but HD makes everything better.

Making a run at the blog version of the “Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy”

That’s right… real effort to come back….. Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy

Lets pick something newish in my life and make a blog.

Today… its the Wii.

Had a hell of a time trying to find one…. that was after I had one in my hands and decided with the help of my wife that we don’t need a Wii. I had no desire to get a Wii until they had a United Way fund raiser at Amy’s work, it involved playing the Wii, I get an email saying “What’s for dinner, and by the way, we HAVE to get a Wii.”

So now I have my Wii and it is indeed a lot (notice a lot is 2 words. Burns my bacon when people spell it as 1 word “alot” is not a word you douche bag!) of fun. Here are my major concerns about the Wii.

  1. Amy inadvertently (or maybe not so inadvertently) punches me in the face with the controller in her hand as she tries to make a crazy tennis shot.
  2. The strap on the controller breaks as someone (lets blame Amy again) makes a huge bowling move and the controller goes through my lovely flat panel HDTV.
  3. I end up needing Tommy John surgery from playing too much Wii. I currently have some soreness in my left shoulder from playing tennis and boxing.
  4. Some sort of random injury because we don’t have a ton of space for Wii players… when we get 2 additional controllers and have some doubles tennis on the go who knows what is going to happen.
  5. I end up growing a Mullet after I purchase Guitar Hero.

oh, it is a Good Friday!

I caught a bit of the Masters yesterday when I got home from work and it made the cost of the HD TV worth it!  Watching all of the Masters coverage today will truly make it a good Friday.

Cricket World Cup

The Cricket World Cup starts today.

I’ve always been fascinated by the game of Cricket. I know about twelve rules, 984 more to learn.

Believe it or not.. Canada is in the World Cup, we’re in Group C playing in Saint Lucia.

  • Kenya vs Canada (Wednesday March 14)
  • England vs Canada (Sunday March 18)
  • New Zealand vs Canada (Thursday March 22)

So it looks like we need to finish in the top two in order to move on to the second stage. GO CANADA!
I’m going to try to follow the world cup until the final on April 28 in Barbados.

If all goes well on April 28 I’ll sit in front of the TV and watch the World Cup final in HD while getting blato on Kingfisher. I don’t expect to be watching Canada but will be throwing a huge Cricket bash if Canada makes the final.

Its not a post unless I bitch about something so here goes… I’m pissed that Kingfisher took my favourite beer tag line off the bottle….. Most Thrilling Chilled. How awesome is that?

Sports Overload…

I love my wife, she is awesome and is by far the best one I’ve ever had. Having said all those wonderful things about my beautiful wife I had a day yesterday that couldn’t have happened if she wasn’t on a business trip. I watched a lot of sporting events yesterday. Don’t get me wrong I still managed to do the laundry which was chock full of Amy’s stuff even though she has been on the road for 12 days. Here is a little run down…..

  • I was psyched to see there was a hockey game on at 12:30pm. Bruins @ Wings. It was a decent game despite the NBC announcers.
  • Towards the end of the Hockey game I was flicking to the Raptors game. I’m officially on the band wagon. It was a super exciting game.
  • After basketball I watched the final round of the PGA event. I can’t wait to see the Masters in HD next month!
  • To cap it off I watched a little AHL hockey after the golf.
  • I almost forgot the Brier….  I watched Glenn Howard of Ontario beat the Gushue rink from Newfoundland & Labrador.  😦

If Amy were home I’m sure I would have ended up watching a What not to Wear, or Sell this House marathon. She is back tomorrow so there will be a ton of PVR stuff to catch up on.
