Turn down the Suck! Turn Up the Good!

I love Canada but I question some of the things our country does…… it blows my mind that the Government is running ads encouraging the business community to hire an immigrant and not look down on a university degree just because its not from North America. All the while the GREAT country of CANADA is trying to deport a bright young woman, Sarah Leonty, who has excelled at every level of education here in Canada and has aspirations to work for the Canadian Government. Sarah should be considered a role model and not considered for ejection from Canada!

We have enough Canadian born citizens whom should be kicked out of the country long before we get to the part of the list where Sarah’s name should be.

Sarah has…..

• Been a tutor
• Prime Minister of Student Council
• Volunteer at a women’s shelter
• Volunteer at a food bank
• Earned a Herb Carnegie scholarship for community leadership
• Earned a Lieutenant-Governor’s Award
• Earned music awards from Toronto’s Catholic School Board
• Earned merit awards from Toronto’s Catholic School Board
• Accepted to the “Youth in Motion – Opportunities Unlimited” program that is funded by the Government of Canada, the same Government that is trying to kick her out.

After all of that our Government want to kick her out of the country before she can even finis her degree, and even if she stays she has to pay international student fees (which are triple) because she is no longer considered a resident of Canada.

Boo Canada! Try to do the right thing here.

36 hours before this picture was taken there was no snow on the table… NONE.

It is supposed to be spring in 2 weeks.  I went running in this crap…… was about 2 minutes a mile slower.

I think this has been good for Canadian TV. I have stated to watch a couple of new TV shows and I am really enjoying them. I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t have given them a shot if all the big American shows were still on the air.  Now that I am “into”these shows I’ll continue to record them on t

I’ve been a big fan of “The Border“. This is a great show and in my humble opinion it does not have any of the cheese factor that I have come to expect from Canadian TV. I can tell you one thing for sure……. historically one would assume that this would be a “period piece” about the frontier border patrol on the Prairies….. if this were the case there is about a 100% chance that I wouldn’t be watching it.

I’ve also been watching “jPod“. I think this is a decent show and will continue to watch it.

I think it really makes a difference that these shows are shot in HD. I’m not usually a Audio/Visual guy…. but HD makes everything better.

Douche Bag

Is the term passé?

Not if you use it in the correct context.

This came up at the Jester 7 days ago…… and in a moment of perfect marriage Amy and I totally agreed. You can’t just toss the phrase around like the word “the” or the phrase “pass me another beer”. Douche bag can and should be used…… but like “the force”……… it must be used wisely.

As I’m sitting on the couch tonight watching the hockey game (which had a great tribute for Remembrance Day) Amy and I see some dude in the platinum seats standing up while on his cell phone waiving to his loser friend on the other end saying…. no doubt…. “Can you see me? Am I on Hockey Night in Canada? Can you see me?” And in another moment of perfect marriage we agree 100% that……this dork is a total Douche Bag!
